Discover Tarangire's nocturnal predators and elusive bush creatures on a spotlight-guided drive after dark.
When the sun sets over Tarangire, a completely different world awakens. Board our specially equipped safari vehicle fitted with powerful spotlights and infrared optics for a drive through the darkness to discover the nocturnal side of the African bush.
Your guide sweeps the spotlight across the savannah, catching the reflective eyes of creatures rarely seen by day — the enormous eyes of bush babies clinging to acacia branches, the unmistakable silhouette of an aardvark snuffling for termites, and the stealth of a leopard on the hunt. Hyenas, genets, civets, and porcupines are regular sightings, and if fortune favours, you may witness a lion pride on a night kill.
The Tarangire ecosystem is particularly rich for night drives because the park's baobab woodland and riverine forest harbour a density of nocturnal wildlife that rivals anywhere in East Africa. The experience lasts approximately two to three hours and ends with a hot chocolate or nightcap under the stars back at camp.
